1.0 Introduction

Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match is an Internet application that facilitates apprenticeship seekers and employers in Sarnia-Lambton area to connect online,

Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match specifically enables job seekers to view and, if desired, be alerted to job advertisements free of charge at their own convenience, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The following Terms of Use set out the terms and conditions under which the Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match (the “Service”) is made available to you, the job seeker (“Job Seeker” or “you” or “your”), to view job advertisements. By clicking the “I Agree” box during the registration process and by accessing, using and/or viewing jobs on Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match, you are indicating your initial and ongoing acceptance and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU CAREFULLY READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL OF THESE TERMS OF USE.

2.0 How the Service Works and Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

The Service is designed to display job advertisements submitted directly to Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match by employers. An Apprenticeship Seeker may search any of these job advertisements and use the contact information provided by employers in those advertisements to respond directly to employers for apprenticeships that are of interest.

To use this service, you will be required to set up a user account and become a registered user. In either case, you will be bound by these Terms of Use, to the extent applicable.

Any personal information collected from you will be collected, used and disclosed in accordance with the Ontario Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (“FOIPPA”) and for the purpose of providing you with access to job search resources. 2. 1 Registered User

To become a Registered User, you must provide a valid e-mail address and supply a password which will be used to allow you to access your account. If requested by you, your e-mail address will be used to provide you with notices regarding available job advertisements that meet your search parameters and preferences. Your preferences will be stored in your user account, but these can only be accessed by you. Your e-mail address may also be used to assist you if you forget your login information.

In the event that you are accessing your account or the Service from outside of Canada, you hereby consent to your personal information being accessed from outside of Canada. You also understand and agree that any non-personal information provided by you through your use of the Service may be used, in aggregate form only, for program review, analysis and reporting and for statistical research purposes.

3.0 Apprenticeship Obligations

You agree not to use the Service for any purpose other than to search available employment opportunities and, if desired, to respond to those employment opportunities, both solely for your personal purposes. You must not copy, scrape, link to, frame or use any data, materials or other information provided on the Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match for any other purpose whatsoever.

4.0 Amendments

Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership reserves the right to cease providing the Service at any time. Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership also reserves the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time without notice being provided directly to you. You understand and agree that it is your responsibility to consult the Terms of Use on a regular basis to become aware of any modifications that have been made. If you do not agree to be bound by such modified terms, your sole remedy is to cease using the Service.

5.0 Job Advertisements

Any job advertisement that falls within any of the following categories must not be posted or may be removed, as the case may be:

  • job advertisements from placement agencies that charge fees to applicants
  • volunteer opportunities
  • job advertisements where there are no available openings at the time of posting
  • job advertisements containing inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content, such as defamatory statements, inflammatory or discriminatory content or hiring practices based on gender, sexual orientation, age, religious affiliations, disability, or ethnicity
  • any commercial solicitation and/or advertising other than for specific employment opportunities
  • job advertisements that require job seekers to participate in unpaid training as a condition of hiring
  • job advertisements for the recruitment of replacement workers during a labour dispute
  • job advertisements for employment opportunities based outside of Lambton County

If you should encounter a job advertisement that falls into any of the above categories, you are asked to immediately contact Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership at 519-332-1820 and provide details of the offending posting so that it can be reviewed by the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership will not have any liability for any information posted by third parties, even if the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership has been advised of any offending content in such information.

6.0 Duration of Job Advertisements

Job advertisements will typically be advertised on Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match for the length of time determined by the job poster.

7.0 Condition of Use

By accessing and using Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match you agree that your use of this site and the Service is entirely at your own risk and that you will be liable for any failure to abide by these Terms of Use. The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership has no obligation to provide, or continue to provide, the Service to you and all functionalities of Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match are provided on an “AS AVAILABLE” basis. Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership makes no representations or warranties, express or implied, with respect to:

  • Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match being free of malware, including viruses, or other harmful component; and
  • the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any information available through the Service.

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership is not responsible and assumes no liability with respect to any of the information provided to create an account with Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match or in relation to any job advertisement posted using Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match tool. The Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match is not responsible for lost, intercepted, incomplete, illegible, misdirected, or stolen messages or mail, unavailable connections, failed, incomplete, garbled, or delayed transmissions, online failures, hardware, software or other technical malfunctions or disturbances.

Although the employer is required to provide their business number to post an apprenticeship opportunity. The job poster may not be who they claim to be, and you should exercise caution and only disclose personal information that is essential for replying to any job advertisement.

8.0 Limitation of Liability and Indemnity

Under no circumstances will the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership be liable to any person or business entity for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential or other damages based on: (i) any use or inability to use the Service, or (ii) any lack of availability or delay in using the Service, or the posting or removal of any job advertisement.

Any dispute at any time arising between you and a job poster shall be solely between you and the job poster.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership and its successors, assigns, ministers, officers, employees, and agents from any claim, action, demand, loss, or damages, including lawyers’ fees, made or incurred by any third party in any way arising out of your use of the Service, including as between you and the job poster.

9.0 Termination of Use

Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership may, without notice to you, temporarily or permanently terminate your access to Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match if:

  • you fail to comply with any of these terms and conditions; or
  • if your user ID or password are compromised or insecure or are suspected of being compromised or insecure.

If at any time you no longer wish to agree to be bound by these Terms of Use or for any reason wish to terminate your use of the Service, you must immediately cease accessing and using Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Board Match. In addition, you must notify us so that we may delete your account.

Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership may at any time revoke your access to Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match if you use the Service otherwise than for legitimately searching and applying for employment opportunities for your own personal purposes only.

10.0 Security

You are responsible for keeping your Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match account login information, including password, secure. You must not share this information with any third party for any purpose.

11.0 Terms of Use Agreement

By activating the “I Agree” button, you are confirming that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use for the Sarnia-Lambton Apprentice Job Match. If you do not agree to be bound by these Terms of Use, you must not access this website or use the Service.

This is the main item in here that I am not totally comfortable with—there should be a Freedom of Information and Protection act but I am not sure if this is what it is called and if I have used it properly here.

The WorkBC requires all employers to provide their business number in order to help ensure there is no fraudulent postings—we have not required this on our matching tool
